Asphalt Pumps
Clean asphalt is an oil based liquid with no fillers, and is typically handled at elevated temperatures to reduce viscosity. Asphalt pumps need a source of heat like jacketing or electric heat to keep the asphalt from solidifying in the pump.
Viking’s 1224A-ASP pumps are designed specifically for handling asphalt, bitumen, pitch, bunker oils, residual oils and related materials that solidify at ambient temperatures. These pumps come standard with Viking’s O-Pro® Cartridge seal to prevent process fluid from leaking out of the pump. ASP1 models are suitable for clean, non-abrasive asphalts. ASP2 models are designed for abrasive applications such as filled asphalts used by manufacturers of asphalt roofing.
Vikings 34 series feature a fully jacketed pump to rapidly deliver heat directly to the stuffing box, casing and head. Jacketing is suitable for hot oil or steam for enhanced application flexibility. This is a simple, economical design for transfer and delivery of asphalt and bitumen at low to moderate pressures.
